NFC Based iPhone on the Horizon [Rumor]

Before the release of the iPhone 4S, it was rumored to be featuring the NFC chip which is now one of the most touted features on some leading mobile vendors but it didn’t turned out to be. As a matter of fact many were expecting a newer iPhone with a redesign but it was just a steped up version of the existing iPhone 4.

But according to recent  reports from Digitimes Apple is expected to bring the NFC(near field communication) to the next version of iPhone which is expected to hit the markets in 2012.

As Android, Symbian, BlackBerry and Bada have supported NFC (near field communication) functions and Microsoft and Apple plan to make Windows Phone and iOS support NFC in 2012, the proportion of NFC-enabled smartphones will quickly increase from less than 10% currently to over 50% in two to three years, according to Taiwan-based smartphone makers.

So with the competition getting intense with other biggies in the smartphone business try to get over each other this can very well turn out to be a real deal.

iPhone Battery Issues Not Related to Hardware According to Recent Tests

While Apple is doing their best to kill the battery ghost which is haunting the iDevices specifically the iPhone 4 and the newly launched iPhone 4S with their latest release for the iOS updates the iOS 5.0.1 the battery drainage problem still is being reported by many of the users and even the iPad users are now reporting about poor battery life even with the latest iOS 5.0.1 update.

The issue is been in the talking for quite a while now and Apple is doing their best to sort things out, since this one is the second biggest issue after the last years iPhone 4′s Antenna gate fiasco. Now some of the iOS  developers have concluded with their testing that this poor battery issue has nothing to do with the hardware part but just the software as reported earlier by ZDNet.

As one of the developers who tested the battery performance of two iPhone 4S devices and both were running the iOS 5.0.1 OS with one showing poor battery performance while the other one worked perfectly fine. One thing to be noted here that both the devices were having different configurations, while one was for pure app testing purposes the other one was for the day to day usage.

iOS 5 Battery Issues Still Not Fully Resolved

With the release of iOS 5, many of us expected it to surpass our expectations and it did go way beyond everyone’s expectations but at a steep price. iOS 5 for iPhone possessed new exciting  features and apps, but they seem to hamper the device’s performance by using a lot of power and thus high battery consumption. Each time your phone attempts to find your location, or tries communicating with iCloud or has any background app running, it caused battery drainage. Although a slow and steady battery drain is to be expected, iPhone users with iOS 5 are experiencing quicker drainage than with previous versions of the OS.

As more and more users started experiencing the same problem it became a necessity for Apple to address it. And so did they respond, with the release of iOS 5.0.1, claiming it to be a software issue.

Unfortunately many customers are still experiencing battery trouble, even after updating their phones to the latest software. In order to find some answers, users have made a beeline towards Apple support forums, where battery related topics are currently receiving thousands of views. Customer complaints mention a battery drainage problem remains, in spite of the update. Even worse, others mention that poor battery performance was never experienced until they had updated. However, some customers are noticing an improvement.

In a statement given to AllThingsD, Apple confirmed that some users are still affected by poor battery life:

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”

For the time being you can do the following to get as much out of your battery:
