Apple Eyeing on Bringing Movie Streaming to iCloud Services

Apple Released the iCloud Services for public yesterday along with the release of the iOS 5 update and Mac OSX Lion 10.7 update yesterday for the users to share music, videos, books, application data and backups, from your Mac and iOS devices in Apple’s cloud with 5GB free storage space and premium upgrade options for more storage space.

You get the cloud storage with lots of storage space and multiple devices connectivity options and other media options, but apple thinking about expanding the services to add some spice to it.According to Los  Angeles Times apple is thinking about going Hollywood with the services and bringing Movies to the iCloud Services.

If the sources are to be believed, they are already in the talks with major hollywood studios to finalize a deal which would eventually allow the consumers of the iCloud service to buy the Movies  via iTunes and access them on any Apple device. The services are expected to begin in the last month of this year or the first quarter of 2012.

This is rather an interesting service concept since having stored digital films in the cloud, instead of allowing the  buyers to manage the digital copy of it  themselves on a computer or other device, will definitely help the users so that they can make it accessible easily anytime anywhere.

iOS5′s Exceptional Demand Causes Error 3200, Bricks some iPhones

iOS5 was finally launched yesterday by Apple as promised. So the carnage for updating the iOS based devices was bound to happen as every tom, dick and harry tried to install the latest updates on their iPhones, iPads and the iPod Touches.

So due to this excessive load on the servers many of the users were getting the Error 3200 which basically pinged the Apple servers for authentication but couldn’t get any valid reply due to server overload.

Some of the users are also reported to have bricked their iPhones courtesy the problem while updating their devices since they couldn’t reactivate their phones through the servers, as reported earlier by Appleinsider.

If all this wasn’t enough, well hear this, there are also reports about iCloud inaccessibility and some of the users who have bricked their iPhones in the process are also getting another Error 3004 which is also believed to be caused by the same 3200 error.

The service representatives have promised that the authentication issue is being sorted out and will take a few hours for the service to be available without any hassle.

So if you are getting either of the above 2 errors, wait it out for a while and then try updating your iDevice again.

Apple Files For “In App Purchasing” Patent

In App Purchases has been one of the most promising feature for most of the applications running in the app store,an innovative revenue model for the apps which are made available as free for downloads but the in app purchases makes up for the Free App.Apple filed a patent for “In App Purchasing” quite a while ago, that is more than a year and a half way back in april 2010,the same emerged on the   US Patent & Trademark Office’s  yesterday.

The abstract reads,

The present technology provides a purchasing interface within an application that allows users to purchase a product from another source without leaving the application. The application offers a product for purchase, and a user, desiring to purchase the product can provide an input effective to cause a purchasing interface to be displayed. While the purchasing interface, or information presented therein, comes from the product source, which is different than the application source, it is presented in such a fashion that gives the impression to the user that they are purchasing the product directly from the application.

Though this patent has been filed by apple ,a similar patent which is already owned by a company named Lodsys, LLC , customer-based product design module which allows future interaction with customers from inside a service or an application and apple is already paying the company for using the same patent. So this might very well turn into a conflicting situation if at all apple is granted with this patent.

Difference between those two patent’s is that the Lodsys patent is covering a broad area ,but apple uses a more specific area than the actual patent. If at all apple gets hold of this patent,we might see a suing spree from Apple with the competitors like Google and  Microsoft  who are also bringing this concept in their respective application stores like Android market and Marketplace.
