Apple’s Grand Central Station Store Opens To Big Crowds

Yesterday saw the newest Apple Store open at New York’s Grand Central Station to a grand reception from Apple followers. The 23,000 square foot location is expected to generate a revenue in the region of $100 million in a year, out of of which nothing is going to be shared with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority(MTA) in contrast to most of Apple’s neighbors who have a revenue sharing deal with the agency. In addition to this the main point of criticism is the addition of $60 a square foot lease price that Apple is paying for the prime location, which is the reason why the entire deal has come under intense scrutiny.

The store opened at 10am Eastern time as a large crowd of New Yorkers came to do some holiday shopping as can be seen in the image above. The store opened to a huge crowd which many of the onlookers termed as “Chaotic”. Unlike the 24 hour Apple Store on 5th Avenue, this store shuts at 9pm on weeknights and 7pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday. With the large crowd at the Grand Opening and the rush of holiday shopping, those working at the new Apple Store are in for a some tiring days this holiday season.
