AirBeam – Remote Webcam/Surveillance App for iPhone Now Comes With Audio Recording And Detection

Hot on the heels of initial version of Surveillance app named AirBeam, developer Heiko Straulino has been busy improvising it  and the newest update, released over the weekend, now let’s users stream and record audio as well, and adds an audio detection feature similar in function to motion detection.

The latest update allows user to record both video and audio over a local wifi network, or over the web, to another iDevice running AirBeam or to the free Mac AirBeam app. The audio detection feature will trigger recording or alarms if it’s tripped.

The update also adds chunk of other improvements, like the ability to remotely switch the iPhone 4/4S’s  flashlight on, the ability to transfer recordings to the monitoring device and the ability to use audio recording in stealth mode, with the iPhone locked.

iPhone 4S’s 1080P Recording Comes as Close as Canon DSLR’s!

iPhone 4S is not just about Siri and it’s awesome fun but it’s richness in Multimedia department is also one of the much talked about features of the phone. It sports in a 8 Megapixel Rear Camera which supports 1080 P Video Recording.

We were yet to see some real world examples of the same comparing the video quality with some other devices.Well the wait is over,Robino Films just put up a comparison of the iPhone 4S Full HD video recording with the Canon DSLR Camera, the  EOS 5D MKII  to be specific on  Vimeo.

Here’s what they say about their experience comparing both the gadgets head to head,

Exposure, shutter speed, frame rate and picture style were matched as close as possible between the two cameras.

This test shows that the tiny F2.4 lens and sensor on the iPhone are pretty nice. It even got a little depth of field!

So the one of the touted features of the phone comes as close to a professional camera when we compare the video recording and it’s much more than just a video recorder to fit in a pocket of anyone and at a better price than the DSLR.

Apple’s New MacBook Pro’s Expected By End Of The Year

For the past few weeks rumors of Apple planning to tweak its MacBook Pro line were doing the rounds on the web. It seems that they rumors for once were true, with Apple showing on its own online store of MacBook Pro’s new memory model due to be shipped later this year. It will probably have some meager CPU modifications and possibly an improved Bluetooth Wireless networking.

If you do a search on Apple’s online store for ‘MacBook Pro’, you get a list of Apple’s products. In that list of products, there are two mysterious entries for ‘Macbook Pro Memory Model’ toward the bottom with the caption “Ships: Coming in November”.

The two links which can be seen in above image are currently inactive. Although these might be the spare part numbers for the new MacBook Pros and the 2_3 and 2_4 could be the new speeds of the quad-core Intel Core i7 processors (current is 2.0 to 2.3 GHz). If they are spare parts, these often ship a week or so after the new products so the Mac Book Pro’s could come sooner than ‘November’.

Mint To Release it’s iPad App Very Soon

In the race to release app for iPad, the four giants – Facebook, Google Docs, Mint and LinkedIn were in the running. Out of these Facebook was the quickest to release it’s very own app for iPad. Following in the footsteps of Facebook, Mint has decided to release its very own app for iPad.

For all those who don’t know what Mint is, Mint is by far the BEST finance managing service available! If you haven’t used it yet, there no better time than now to start!

In a tweet posted October 11th, Mint mobile designer Jaanus Kase said “the Mint iPad app is nearly done and will be out very shortly.” He also stated on Mint’s satisfaction forums that the next Mint app will be universal (both for iPhone and iPad) and that it will require iOS 5, which is one of the reasons the company could not release it until now.

People with iPhone 3G units, the new Mint app will not work since the maximum iOS on that device is 4.2.1. However, Kase states that Mint will continue to support its current iOS app for those running iOS 4.

Now, LinkedIn and Google Docs must get your acts together, “ball is in your court!!”

Download Redsnow 0.9.9b6 to Jailbreak iOS 5 on Windows

The iPhone Dev Team has finally released an update to Redsn0w which adds support for Windows users. The previous version released a week back lacked support for Jailbreaking iOS5 final on Windows.

This update also fixes the aGPS issues with iPhone 3GS.

From the iPhone Dev-Team:

We’ve released version 0.9.9b6 of redsn0w, with both a functional fix and cosmetic fix for iOS5 jailbreakers. For iPhone3GS owners with the 06.15 baseband, this redsn0w eliminates the network crash you saw when using Location Services in iOS5 (in fact, you don’t even need to disable Location Services anymore during the initial setup). The cosmetic fix is to the visual countdown you see when going into DFU mode.

It’s okay to re-run this redsn0w over an existing device jailbroken at iOS5. Just choose “Jailbreak” again and de-select Cydia (in other words, all the checkboxes will be unchecked).  If you are lucky enough to have an old-bootrom iPhone3GS, please pre-select the IPSW first (redsn0w can’t yet auto-detect the FW version of your old-bootrom 3GS if it’s already been jailbroken).
