[How to] Backup Your Data On iPhone Using iPhone Backup Extractor

Many of the iDevice users often feel the need to backup their data such as photos, music,etc.  from their devices. For such purpose, there is a new utility in the market which is capable of recovering data  from your iOS backups in iTunes, provided if the backup isn’t encrypted. In order to make this happen you need to be using Mac OS X Lion.

You can get your free copy of the application from the developers’ website. Once you download the app, copy it to the applications folder (/Applications) on your startup drive and launch it from there. You’ll be presented with a window and a button, Read Backups, which you should click. After clicking you’ll see something like this:

Apple Offers Monthly Subscription based Model for Streaming Unlimited Games

 

For the first time, Apple will offer video game publishers to give their games to iPad users via a subscription model, a revenue and purchasing model previously available only to digital publications. Bloomberg reports:

Big Fish Games, a Seattle-based game publisher, won approval from Apple to become the first to offer users access to dozens of titles for $6.99 a month. Until now, games have only been available one at a time, requiring users to download individual applications.

Apparently, a user who gets hold of a Big Fish Games subscription will be able to play unlimited games that the publisher makes available through a dedicated app. The only issue is, Games will be streamed to users iPad from Big Fish’s data centers, requiring the user to have Wi-Fi access to play. As always, Apple will still collect a 30% cut of revenues.

When it comes to the process of Big Fish convincing Apple of the model, the company’s founder Paul Thelen had this to say:

“It took longer than usual to be approved… they needed to be convinced there’s a reason to charge customers every month.”

Apple Delaying iOS 5.0.2 Update Citing Memory Leakage Issues

Apple was supposed to release the next iOS 5 update that is the iOS 5.0.2 to fix the much talked about battery drainage issues that the iPhone 4S users have been facing for quite a while now.

But now according to a German site Macerkopf.de, Apple is delaying the iOS 5.0.2 update citing memory leaks in the code for the particular version and would eventually require more time for testing before the update gets released.

Steve Jobs Older Days of Brainstroming Sessions with NeXT Team [Video]

Recently i stumbled onto a great video on youtube courtesy TNW one of the rarest video of its era when Steve Jobs after getting fired from Apple inc way back in 1985 founded NeXT which aided education and business markets with workstations.

During his NeXT venture he also  worked on object-oriented NeXTSTEP operating system also  a programming environment standard called OpenStep, and one of the first enterprise web application frameworks called WebObjects.

The video is from the series named Entrepreneurs which documents the creation of NeXT featuring Steve Jobs brainstorming with his NeXT Team members to generate futuristic ideas for NeXT.

[How to] Make iTunes Match Recognize Older Music Tracks

For all the iTunes Match users who have spent around 25 bucks and waited pretty long time for your music library to get in tune with the iCloud, may have noticed those mysterious cloud status icons scattered through your tracks. Apple’s tech note summarizes the icons.

Most of you might have observed that many of your older tracks are shown ineligible. Now the root of the problem being most of those old files being saved with variable bit rate (VBR) which meant that those files were saved keeping in mind the storage requirements of the device and now seem to be ineligible.

This is where one of the most helpful features of iTunes Match comes into the picture, as to how it ‘normalizes’ any tracks that exist in the iTunes store catalog up to 256 kbps AAC files, the same quality as iTunes Plus music that you buy from the store.
