Tutorial : Unlock iPhone 3.0

Follow this simple Tutorial to Jailbreak/Unlock you 3.0 based iPhone 2G/3G. Note that the new iPhone 3GS cannot be Unlocked as of it. Its Jailbreak Tool too is currently not available to public.

Stuffs that you’ll need :

Mac Version
Windows Version

For 2G Users :
- BL 3.9
- BL 4.6
- 3.0.0 Firmware (2G): iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

For 3G Users :
- 3.0.0 Firmware (3G): iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Now that you’ve download the required tools. Follow these steps (Applies to both 2G and 3G) :

Tutorial : Unlock iPhone 2.0.2 [2G] Firmware (Winpwn 2.5)

Winpwn 2.5 was recently launched. Its still said to be in BETA stage which according to the Dev Team means “Use at your Own Risk” !

iPhone SSH via USB using WinSCP

Transferring Files overs SSH, managing File Permissions and Executing Commands via Putty till now was only possible if you had a Wifi Router. Many people who didn’t have any Wifi Router couldn’t install or use many 3rd Party Unofficial Applications.

Follow this Simple Guide on connecting to iPhone via SSH using WinSCP !

Requirements :

iPhone with OpenSSH Installed (install this via Cydia)To install OpenSSH on iPhone:
1. Open Cydia
2. Goto Search > Search for “OpenSSH”
3. Install it and reboot your iPhone.

Create Free iTunes Account without Credit Card

Many people who have the iPhone/iPod Touch are still not able to install the FREE Applications because they don’t have an iTunes account as iTunes Compulsorily needs a Credit Card to create one !

I’ll explain in short how to get yourself a FREE iTunes Account without Credit Card !

Follow the Steps below :

1. Open iTunes

2. Click on iTunes Store from Left Side Pane.

3. At the very bottom of the page, select My Store as “United States”. (Other Countries are not tested)

Once you made sure that your iTunes Store Location is set to US, select AppStore from the Menu located at the very bottom of the iTunes Store as shown below:

4. Click on any FREE Application and Download it by Clicking on Free as Shown in the Pic above.

5. The Page related to that Application will open. Click on Get App and you’ll get a Box as shown below :

6. In the Dialog Box Click on Create New Account.

7. Click on Continue.

8. Accept the License Agreement by Ticking the Check Box and then Click on Continue.

9. Fill in your Email ID, Password, Secret Question and Birth Date and click Continue.

10. Now as you see in the Image Below. Now apart from VISA, MasterCard, American Express, you have another new Payment Option which says “None“. Check that !

11. Fill in your Details and click Continue. (if you’re wondering what to fill in for Address, you can fill up any valid PIN (ZIP) Code and Phone No. ex. City: New York, State: NY, Zip: 10012, Phone: 212 226-3127)

12. You’ll now be sent an Email. Check your EMail, Verify your Account.

13. Congratulations ! You’ve successfully created a new iTunes Account, totally free and without using or exposing any Credit Card Information !

Tutorial : Use iPhone as Modem (Windows)

Official Method

The iPhone 4 now supports Wireless Tethering with the latest firmware update.

To enable Tethering Officially on the iPhone 4 follow these steps:

1. Open Settings

2. Select Personal Hotspot

Unofficial Method (Requires Jailbreak) For those on iPhone 2G/3G/3GS

1. Open Cydia

2. Goto Search and search for “MyWi”

3. Download and Install MyWi.

4. Open MyWi and the rest options are pretty self explanatory.

Old Method

The iPhone surely lacks some basic features but 3rd Party Developers have made sure that those flaws and drawbacks are fixed using 3rd Party Applications. Earlier you needed to Jailbreak and use Installer.app to run these, but now with the App Store, Apple has officially opened up the iPhone.

One such application released recently is the NetShare Application ! This application allows you to use your EDGE/3G Data Network and route in a way which shares your iPhones Net connection to your PC via a Socks5 Proxy Server !

This Application is currently Paid and costs 10$ ! I personally don’t think its worth that much as I’ve been using this feature for free for over an year now via the following method by cre.ations.net !

Anyhow I’ll explain in Brief how to use this for your Windows based PC.

On iPhone :

1. Download the NetShare Application from the AppStore.
2. In your iPhone go to Settings > Wifi > Choose your Network and Select “Static” ! Note the IP Address here.
3. Delete the DNS values
4. Now open NetShare Application and it should show the same IP that you noted down before.

On PC :

1. Open up Firefox > Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Click on Settings
2. Choose the Manual Proxy Configuration > In the Socks Host enter the IP Address shown in the Net Share application and also enter the Port shown in Netshare here.
3. Make sure you select Socks5
4. Click Ok and your Done and should be able to browse any sites !

For other Applications like Yahoo Messenger follow the same. Yahoo too has Proxy Settings so use the same details there.

Now enjoy 3G Speeds on your Laptop/PC !
