You can disable and re-enable Spotlight in Mac OS X Lion with the help of Terminal. The following command unloads the Spotlight mds agent from launchd, preventing the daemon from running or indexing any drives entirely.Open up the Terminal (found in /Applications/Utilities/) and enter the following commands based on the need to either disable or re-enable Spotlight indexing. This will effect indexing on all drives connected to the Mac.

Disable Spotlight

The primary method is using launchctl, this will require the administrative password:

sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

Re-enable Spotlight

The assure way to reenable Spotlight is to reload it into launchd using launchctl:

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

With Spotlight reloaded launchd, the mds agent will immediately start running again to reindex the filesystem. This may take some time depending on the amount of changes and new files since the last time MDS ran. You can verify that MDS is running through Activity Monitor or by pulling down the Spotlight menu to see an “Indexing Drive Name” progress bar.

Apple has also added Spotlight and Safari to the list of areas they would like developers to focus on along with their initial goal for targeting the iCloud Document Storage, Address Book, iCal, and Mail. There aren’t any known issues with the current build as such.

It remains to be seen that by what time the update would be reseeded for the developers and then the stable build for the public release. We will keep you posted.

Apple has released version 5.1.2 of Safari, now available in a Software Update near you. The new version, according to the notes, increases stability, fixes a few issues that could cause hangs and memory leaks, and fixes an issue that would allow web page to flash to white. No more more freaky strobes when loading up a new URL, hopefully.

The patch also allows web pages to show PDF content right inline with the rest of their web material, which is a nice option for programmers who need to show content that way. Safari 5.1.2 is a 40.2 MB update, and does require a restart.

Resetting a Lost OS X Lion Password Using an Apple ID

Before you begin with this method it’s crucial to note that, this method only works if you set an Apple ID to tie with the OS X user account, and this option will not be suitable for users with FileVault 2 protection enabled.
Recently, VMware released an update to its popular virtualization software that adds many improvements. It’s called Fusion 4.1 T and it is promised to get rid of any bugs. Although, the biggest improvement is the applications ability to run older versions of Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard. It has been known for a long time that Fusion can support Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard virtual machines, but Apple’s licensing prohibits this.

Now, Apple has altered the Mac OS X licensing terms with the release of Mac OS X Lion. The new software license allows users to install and use virtual machines running the client or server version of Lion on their Mac. But, it doesn’t mention anything about older versions of Mac OS X , hence its assumed that its prohibited.

So till now we either used Bootcamp for Windows or try other types of virtualization software like Parallels or VMWare to run Windows based application on Mac OS X.

This is what you need to do for running a Windows application using WinOnX:
