A lot of Mac users have the tendency to of immediately putting their MacBook Air to sleep by shutting the lid, since it is easiest method when you are on the go. Normally this would work without any trouble.However, sometimes  the MacBook Air may not sleep when its lid is shut. As the MacBook Air has no moving hard drive or sleep light, it may not come to your notice immediately and you may feel that Mac is sleeping when actually its not. And you may loose on the valuable battery by the time you realize. If this continues to happen more often then, the solution is simple and quick.You just need to reset the System Management controller (SMC):

Rumor has it that, future MacBook Air could support  three displays at once using a single Thunderbolt connection.

A  leaked roadmap of Intel’s plans for its Ivy Bridge processors in 2012 suggests this could well be a possibility. And with Apple’s next-gen laptops scheduled to boast Intel’s Ivy Bridge processors, it’s likely that future MacBook Airs and Pros will be able to support two external displays in addition to the MacBook’s built-in screen.

If you own an iMac you’d probably be aware that you just cannot manually turn off just the display cause there’s no hardware button to turn the display off.

Now you can put your screen to sleep by the use of  Hot Corners. You can setup hot corners in the mission control on the Mac OS X Lion and they can be activated just by sliding cursor into the specified corners of the screen.

Earlier today DigiTimes  reported  that Apple is preparing to launch MacBook Air refresh early next year. Apple is also looking to expand its ultra-thin notebook family. There are also reports from the upstream supply chain that the company will update existing 11.6- and 13.3-inch models and put out a new 15-inch model.

The sources noted that related upstream players have already started pilot production of the MacBook Air models and will add a 15-inch model into the product line to expand its reach in the ultra-thin notebook market.

With MacBook Air accounting to 28% of Apple’s overall notebook shipments, it could have been more if this rumor could have been true.

Rumor has it that Apple was on the verge of coming out with a MacBook Air packing a processor from Advanced Micro Devices. The news being  put forward by chip-centric web site Semiaccurate is that AMD offered better graphics horsepower. Today, the Air and all the MacBooks use Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors. “If you are wondering why the Air wasn’t really revamped much this last time, it is because you are looking at plan B.

Plan A was basically a low power AMD Llano in an Air shell, and that would have been a really tasty machine. Instead of substandard graphics with questionable drivers, you would get many times the GPU power but lose a bit of CPU power.”

The Ultra-thin Notebooks segment is currently filled with products from companies like Samsung, Acer or Asus bringing Windows powered ultrathin laptops in the market to give a tough competition to the Macbook Air.

A few days back we reported about Apple is prepping ultrathins for early next year,now according to the recent reports from Digitimes, Upstream suppliers have already started shipping a small volume of components for a 15-inch ultra-thin notebook, while we are yet unsure about what would eventually be an Ultrathin MacBook that is if it’s going to be a Mac Book Pro or a newer Mac Book Air Range and the devices are expected to hit the markets as early as the second quarter of 2012.

Till May, Apple’s thinnest laptop accounted for a mere eight percent of overall notebook shipments. However, going by recent reports, the MacBook Air now makes up 28 percent of Apple’s overall notebook shipments.Apparently, this has happened because of  the MacBook Air’s mid-2011 update which has had a significant effect on Apple’s diminutive notebook.

Today, the MacBook Air makes up 28 percent of Apple’s overall notebook shipments. Since Apple discontinued the plastic MacBook in July, its very clear that the MacBook Pro accounts for the bulk of the remaining 78 percent of shipments. The deletion of the plastic MacBook from the lineup may in fact account for some of the MacBook Air’s revival.

Last week we saw the refresh of Mac Book Pro series with the devices getting a faster processor and harddrive upgrades with GPU improvements. This time around a rumor is floating around the Ultrathin MacBooks making their way into the MacBook Family, filled with MacBook Pros and the MacBook Air.

We have been seeing a lot of UltraBooks these days from various PC manufacturers like Acer, HP and other biggies. According to Appleinsider Apple is testing a 15″ Ultrathin MacBook which will be an extension to the existing MacBook Air Family of Notebooks from Apple and Apple is believed to be developing a new Mac Book Pro Lineup for the next year which will not feature an Optical Drive. All the current MacBookPro’s consists of an Optical Drives while the MacBook Air’s only feature a Solid State Drive without an Optical Drive.

Apple’s next version of  MacBooks are expected to feature Intel’s next-generation Ivy Bridge processors, slated to be released at some point in the first half of 2012.

We have reported earlier about Apple Prepping the new Mac Book Pro’s and will be available in this week or so and as expected Apple has released the new breed of Mac Book Pro’s with enhanced Processors and the storage memory as well as a better GPU for the newer MacBook Pros  as reported earlier by macrumors.

For the 13 inchers the major changes  are in the processor department with the newer i5′s clocking at 2.4Ghz  i 7′s  at  2.8Ghz respectively as compared with their dual core  predecessors which were 2.3Ghz and 2.7Ghz respectively and the storage options increase from earlier 320 andd 500GB to the newer Machines with 500GB and 750 GB.

For the 15 inchers the quad core i7′s  which were earlier clocked at 2.0 GHz and 2.2 GHz to 2.2 GHz and 2.4 GHz .While the graphics options are the dedicated graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 512MB GDDR5  and  AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 1GB GDDR5,the harddrives at 500GB and 750GB respectively.

For the 17 inchers quad core   Processor speeds have been upgraded from a base 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 with a 2.3 GHz upgrade option to a 2.4 GHz base processor with a 2.5 GHz option and the dedicated graphics to AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 1GB GDDR5.

The prices for all the newly launched Mac Book Pro’s are same as the earlier ones.

Over the past few days we have been hearing about the rumors of the next version of the Mac Book Pros getting ready for a launch soon.With the supplies of current models of Mac Book Pro almost getting the Out Of Stock lable everywhere this was bound to happen sooner rather than later.

If the reports from 9to5Mac are to be believed the launch can happen as early as next week. Though the newer one’s are said to be sporting the existing design and surprise surprise they are also said to have the same price tag as their current counterparts. The only difference we will get to see is in the hardware department with faster processors  and newer version of Bluetooth i.e 4.0. The new Mac Book Pro’s are likely to be released in the next 2-3days of time.
