[How to] Make iTunes Match Recognize Older Music Tracks

For all the iTunes Match users who have spent around 25 bucks and waited pretty long time for your music library to get in tune with the iCloud, may have noticed those mysterious cloud status icons scattered through your tracks. Apple’s tech note summarizes the icons.

Most of you might have observed that many of your older tracks are shown ineligible. Now the root of the problem being most of those old files being saved with variable bit rate (VBR) which meant that those files were saved keeping in mind the storage requirements of the device and now seem to be ineligible.

This is where one of the most helpful features of iTunes Match comes into the picture, as to how it ‘normalizes’ any tracks that exist in the iTunes store catalog up to 256 kbps AAC files, the same quality as iTunes Plus music that you buy from the store.

Apple To Launch iTunes Match Soon [Rumor]

Recently, Apple dispatched an e-mail to developers who are testing the beta version of the Match, informing them to back up their libraries on their computers before they are wiped from iCloud servers. It’s not new for the iCloud users to receive such notification from Apple, but the content of the e-mail suggests the service’s debut is not very far.

According to a report by John Paczkowski at All Things D the company said, “As we prepare for the launch of iTunes Match, we will be deleting all current iCloud libraries on Saturday, November 12th at 10 AM PST” .

WinAmp for Mac – Now Sync your iTunes Music to Android Phones in OS X

WinAmp, the first Music Player which I used, has now arrived on the Mac OS X platform and has brought in a few great features for Android users, most notably iTunes music syncing and library sharing and Wi-Fi syncing. Now you can take any existing iTunes playlist and sync it directly to an Android device without having to carry out some tedious tasks.

The app is still in its beta phase but works quite well enough to use, with a very light memory and CPU footprint and an attractive enough user interface. If you’re an Android user that owns a Mac, this may be the best way to get your iTunes music library onto your Android phone.

Gmail App for iOS Now Available Over App Store

So the rumors were indeed true,from the past couple of days we have been hearing about the official gmail app for iOS based devices is ready for the release and now after just hours of the rumor widespread the App is now available over App Store for all iOS 4+ devices.

Here are some of it’s key features:

● Receive notification badges for new messages
● Read your mail with threaded conversations
● Organize your mail by archiving, labeling, starring, deleting, and reporting spam
● Keep track of important messages with priority inbox
● Auto-complete contact names as you type
● Send and receive attachments
● Search through all your mail

With this release of the official Gmail app from google the main question arise why? If google had to launch this application on the iOS platform what took so much long to do so? and now as they are arche rivals with Apple with their own Mobile Operating System,what’s really cooking in their mind?

Now Send Greeting Cards via your iPhone

Out of the number of new software released from Apple yesterday, we now take a look at the Cards app.The card app is aptly named “Cards” and will enable the users to design and send greeting cards to their loved one’s from their iOS devices.Cards will allow the users to choose from a variety of designs(in all 21) and customize them as per their needs and send it to anyone around the world.

iTunes 8 : Review and Impressions

iTunes 8 was released yesterday at Apple’s Lets Rock Event. iTunes 8 is the first ever major Version upgrade this year. There’s have been countless iTunes 7.xx iterations.

iTunes 8 offers some major upgrades and some pretty interesting features.

Some Major Changes and Improvements iTunes 8 offers are :

1. Grid View :

As the name suggests, this view shows all your Music and Videos organized in form of a Grid. This indeed looks pretty amazing as seen in the screenshot below. The Media can be grouped by Albums, Artists, Genres or Composers. The Album Art Size can be adjusted via the Slider at the top right, using this the no of objects per line can be adjusted.

iTunes 8 Features and Launch Date Confirmed + iPhone 2.1 Expected

The next Apple Event was confirmed to be taking place on 9th September and Apple had sent out invitation for it in an iPod like Designed plycard as reported earlier.

The main subject of this Event was the new iPod 4G Launch and new iPod Touch design. But along with that, its now confirmed that iTunes 8 will also be launched along side to coincide with the launch of new iPods.

Some Features that iTunes 8 is reported to have are :

New Genius feature that will group similar Music together and Create Playlists along with a Genius Sidebar which recommends you Music from iTunes Store automatically guessing your Music type.
HD TV Shows : Users will now be able to download 720p Encoded High Definition Video Content.
Grid View : As the name suggests, a new Grid Layout will be available. I reckon it will be same as one thats been used for showing Application now.

Create Free iTunes Account without Credit Card

Many people who have the iPhone/iPod Touch are still not able to install the FREE Applications because they don’t have an iTunes account as iTunes Compulsorily needs a Credit Card to create one !

I’ll explain in short how to get yourself a FREE iTunes Account without Credit Card !

Follow the Steps below :

1. Open iTunes

2. Click on iTunes Store from Left Side Pane.

3. At the very bottom of the page, select My Store as “United States”. (Other Countries are not tested)

Once you made sure that your iTunes Store Location is set to US, select AppStore from the Menu located at the very bottom of the iTunes Store as shown below:

4. Click on any FREE Application and Download it by Clicking on Free as Shown in the Pic above.

5. The Page related to that Application will open. Click on Get App and you’ll get a Box as shown below :

6. In the Dialog Box Click on Create New Account.

7. Click on Continue.

8. Accept the License Agreement by Ticking the Check Box and then Click on Continue.

9. Fill in your Email ID, Password, Secret Question and Birth Date and click Continue.

10. Now as you see in the Image Below. Now apart from VISA, MasterCard, American Express, you have another new Payment Option which says “None“. Check that !

11. Fill in your Details and click Continue. (if you’re wondering what to fill in for Address, you can fill up any valid PIN (ZIP) Code and Phone No. ex. City: New York, State: NY, Zip: 10012, Phone: 212 226-3127)

12. You’ll now be sent an Email. Check your EMail, Verify your Account.

13. Congratulations ! You’ve successfully created a new iTunes Account, totally free and without using or exposing any Credit Card Information !
