Twitter 4.0 Released for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

One of the most popular social networking site Twitter released their official version 4 update for all the iOS devices i.e iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch yesterday with loads of new features and feels much faster and responsive than ever before.

Here’s what the new Twitter version for iOS has to offer:

  • Faster and simpler.
  • It all starts at Home screen: a personal collection of Tweets from the sources you care about. The Tweet details show rich information such as replies, retweets and embedded images.
  • Connect: where you can see who is follwing or mentioning you, RTing you, or favorating your tweets. So connect does what Activity tab does on the web page.
  • Discover: allows you to see latest trending topics all over the world. You can also find friends, browse interests, and explore hashtags in this feature.
  • Me: Allows you to use the Direct Messaging feature of Twitter to interact with your friends confidentially.

Siri Communication Protocol Cracked, Expect an Unofficial Release Soon!

There were a lot of rumors floating around about Siri being tested out on the older iDevices by Apple, but Apple soon denied any plans of bringing the Siri voice recognition based system on older iPhones/iPads/iPod Touches.

Though there were some attempts made to port the Siri System to older iPhones but all of them were having some restrictions, most important one being the way the system communicates with the Apple Servers, as officially only the iPhone 4S devices are allowed to use the protocol to communicate with the Apple servers to use the Siri Feature.

But now Applidium, well known for  bringing the open source VLC player on the App Store (which was eventually pulled due to some licensing issues) have reported that they have successfully cracked the Siri Protocol and were able to communicate with the Apple Servers using a computer, that is fooling the servers to get recognized as if the signals were originating from an  iPhone 4S.

But Apple has just released the second beta for the iOS 5.0.1 with the build 9A404. This update is available for those who have updated their iDevices to the first iOS 5.0.1 beta 1 update as an over the air update.

So those of you who’ve already downloaded and installed iOS 5.0.1 Beta 1 from the links we posted before, you should simply perform a OTA update. OTA updates are much smaller in size.

Apple’s Very Own GarageBand Now Available On iPhone & iPod Touch

Amongst many of the apps we see on iPad, one of the most interesting apps to appear on the iPad has been Apple’s very own GarageBand. Its  features include the ability to play several instruments or just sit back and let the app play them for you, and also recording high quality original music.Previously the app was available only for iPad, which was quite adequate provided the amount of screen space it had to consume but, engineers at Apple have figured out how to port this app to the smaller screen sizes of the iPhone and iPod Touch.
