iMAME Arrives At The App Store

In past, not many emulator apps have passed the litmus test, which is to get nod of approval from Apple. But, there have been very few emulator apps that have received Apple’s approval, namely Manomio’s Commodore 64 and a select few. More often than not though, these apps seem to appear on the App store, but are also quickly revoked once noticed. The current status of iMAME is not known(whether its approved or not) but its free and available so, I suggest just go ahead and grab it before its too late.

Although a number of emulators exist on the App Store, Apple has always been very restrictive about these open emulators, due to some legalities. iMAME is an application designed to recreate the hardware of arcade game systems in software on modern personal computers and other platforms. It comes with nine arcade ROMs to play and you can download your free version here.

OnLive Offers Console Quality On-Demand Gaming on iOS Devices, Launches It’s iPad Client

OnLive the Cloud gaming company has released their playable OnLive client for iPad and iPhone. OnLive enables its users to avail console-quality games for Macs, PCs, TVs (and now mobile devices) by remotely streaming the game from their central servers. The client device need not be fast enough to render high resolution graphics — instead it simply has to play back what amounts to a video stream of the game, while user controls are sent back to the central server.

For the first time, users can play actual games which earlier can only be played on PC or Macs, on a relatively low power device such as a tablet or smartphone. With Onlive’s just-launched mobile app, DiRT 3, Assasin’s Creed Revelations, L.A. Noire and many more titles can now be played on  iPad and soon, the iPhone.

iPhone Gets Renewed Tetris From EA

Electronic Arts has released yet another copy of Tetris, this time for the iPhone, and it’s actually pretty good. Last night alongwith  other big releases on the App Store, Tetris  replaced EA’s older version of the game.In this version EA has added a little innovation to charge up the game for the upcoming holiday season. The highlight of the show is a mode called one-touch marathon. As each piece drops you can get a set of optional places on screen to put it, and when you touch the place you want, the piece goes there. No more twisting pieces around and waiting for them to fall in, just touch where they need to be and kaboom!! they will be.
