Sony and Hitachi to Supply 4″ LCD for the iPhone 5 [Rumor]

We have been hearing a lot of rumors about upcoming iDevices line up for next year from Apple, so the rumors are already floating around the iPad Mini and the newly redesigned iPhone the iPhone 5. Just a while back we reported the news of Sharp providing the LCDs for the next iPad.

Now according to a Japanese site, Hitach Displays Ltd. and Sony Mobile Display Corporation have already started shipping 4″ LCD panels to Apple, though the device which is intended to use these panels is yet unknown,but the device is expected to hit the shores in 2012. This reports comes after what we reported earlier today about Sharp making displays for the next generation of iPad, if history is any indication we already know that Apple is known for sourcing their hardware components from various manufacturers.

Siri Can now Start your Car! [Video]


Right after the launch of iPhone4S, some crazy videos started hitting the internet featuring the most touted feature of iPhone 4S, the Siri voice recognition feature. Many of the hackers are still trying to figure out how to bring the Siri Feature and some getting as close as fooling the Apple servers to get recognized as a iPhone 4S user.

Now a recent video featuring Siri helping out to Start the Car has surfaced over the web,a developer used the proxy server and hooking  it up to his Viper Car system allowing him to turn the car on and off using Siri.This is how he did it.

The “Siri Proxy” plugin I wrote handles interaction with a php script that runs on my web server. The php script, which I developed months ago for personal use, allows me to send commands to my car which has a Viper SmartStart module installed.

Current commands accepted are: “Vehicle Arm”, “Vehicle Disarm”, “Vehicle Start”, “Vehicle Stop”, “Vehicle Pop Trunk”, and “Vehicle Panic”.

Siri is turning out to be quite a tool for the developers who are trying out many things with it,we can expect some more interesting Siri hacks in near future.

NFC Based iPhone on the Horizon [Rumor]

Before the release of the iPhone 4S, it was rumored to be featuring the NFC chip which is now one of the most touted features on some leading mobile vendors but it didn’t turned out to be. As a matter of fact many were expecting a newer iPhone with a redesign but it was just a steped up version of the existing iPhone 4.

But according to recent  reports from Digitimes Apple is expected to bring the NFC(near field communication) to the next version of iPhone which is expected to hit the markets in 2012.

As Android, Symbian, BlackBerry and Bada have supported NFC (near field communication) functions and Microsoft and Apple plan to make Windows Phone and iOS support NFC in 2012, the proportion of NFC-enabled smartphones will quickly increase from less than 10% currently to over 50% in two to three years, according to Taiwan-based smartphone makers.

So with the competition getting intense with other biggies in the smartphone business try to get over each other this can very well turn out to be a real deal.

Apple Delaying iOS 5.0.2 Update Citing Memory Leakage Issues

Apple was supposed to release the next iOS 5 update that is the iOS 5.0.2 to fix the much talked about battery drainage issues that the iPhone 4S users have been facing for quite a while now.

But now according to a German site Macerkopf.de, Apple is delaying the iOS 5.0.2 update citing memory leaks in the code for the particular version and would eventually require more time for testing before the update gets released.

iPhone 4S Vs Galaxy Nexus

The very first of its kind, Ice Cream Sandwich handset, the Galaxy Nexus, was unleashed this week in UK and AnandTech has benchmarked Galaxy Nexus vs. the iPhone 4S.  The Galaxy Nexus processor/GPU isn’t what was expected of it but, the new package inside packs a punch beating iOS marginally in browser spped test as shown below. However, Apple’s iPhone 4S and iPad 2 breeze pass the Galaxy Nexus in GPU loading — which is limited by its slower SGX 540, which is very crucial for gaming purposes.The iPhone 4S makes use of the A5 processor, which makes use of the dual-core SGX 543MP2 GPU from Imagination Technologies.
