First of all Happy Halloween everyone. Here’s today’s Halloween special spoof post. Yesterday we reported about Apple already testing out the Mac OSX 10.8 courtesy Macrumors web site traffic logs from the past couple of months.
So on this occasion of Halloween how about spoofing yourself as a Mac OSX 10.8 user agent, this prank is courtesy OSXDaily.
- Launch the Terminal
- Enter the following command, replacing “http://url.com” no the end with the web address you want to give the user agent to:
curl -A “Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8) AppleWebKit/535.6.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.2 Safari/535.6.2″ http://url.com
After doing this the results will be reflected in the website logs with the Mac OSX 10.8 user agent for the site you have browsed.Alternatively you can also achieve this through Safari.
Spoofing the OS X 10.8 User Agent through Safari
Open Safari’s Develop menu, pull down to User Agent and choose “Other” then paste in this:
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8) AppleWebKit/535.6.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.2 Safari/535.6.2
