October 16th Declared As Steve Jobs Day






Governor of California, Jerry Brown announced on Friday, that Sunday, October 16th will be known as “Steve Jobs Day” statewide. This will overlap with the private memorial of Steve Jobs  planned at Standford University for on  Sunday. The Governor tweeted this in the wee hours of Friday, after the announcement that some of Silicon Valley’s renowned people were invited for the memorial service at Stanford.

The new gathering at Stanford follows the private funeral for Jobs held on October 7th and it comes before the Apple employee memorial which will be held on October 19th. According to the Wall Street Journal the invitations which were sent out to guests asked them to RSVP with the Emerson Collective, which is a philanthropy established by Jobs’ widow, Laurene Powell Jobs. The event is by invitation only, according to sources close to the event.

Steve Jobs died on October 5th from after fighting a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
