Unlock Jailbreak iPhone 3.1
The Pwnage Tool to Unlock iPhone OS 3.1 for the 2G and 3G has just been launched by the Dev team. But that is MAC only at the moment. But sizlopedia.com has provided links to a Custom Firmware Created with Pwnage which you can directly install using iTunes.
iPhone 3G Owners Download these Files and Update/Restore using iTunes to get a 3.1 Unlocked iPhone :

After you restore your iPhone 3G to the above Firmware, you’ll need to Unlock it using Ultrasn0w.
To install Ultrasn0w follow :
1. Open Cydia > Manage > Sources.
2. Click Edit and then, Add on the top left.
3. Type repo666.ultrasn0w.com
4. After refresh, go to Search and Search for Ultrasn0w (Zero w) and install it.
iPhone 2G Owners Download these Files and Update/Restore using iTunes to get a 3.1 Unlocked iPhone :
Thats it. Just restore your Firmware to the above downloaded custom firmware 3.1 and you’ll have an Unlocked and Jailbroken 3.1 iPhone 2G.

Restore in Normal Restore Mode!
That Error can have many reasons. Try it on another PC. Mostly that works 100%!

Normal Restore Mode How? If in itune 9.0 it can’t see my iphone
in normal mode But it can see in DFU mode.

same problem as tee. phone cant be seen in normal mode because it needs to be activated (which i cant do) in dfu mode i get error 1600 every time i try. tried all the tricks nothing has worked. any clue what to do??

What I meant by normal mode is that when your connect your iPhone just Shift+Click on Restore, select the Custom firmware file and update. Thats it!

i updateed to custom iphone 3.1 firm ware all went good except i lost all data every thing ohwell life goes on but i am on 3.1 jailbroken firm ware
